Vacancy: co-Editor-in-Chief
Applications are invited for a co-Editor-in-Chief for Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports.
Bioscientifica invite applications for the role of co-Editor-in-Chief for a five-year term starting in July 2025.
Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports (EDM Case Reports) is an Open Access publication focusing on providing a reputable, peer-reviewed publishing outlet for case reports, enabling practitioners in the fields of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism to communicate findings, share knowledge and convey medical experiences efficiently.
Case reports serve to educate clinicians, facilitating the exchange of experiences and discoveries in clinical practice. Case reports are widely read, their value being reflected in advances in patient diagnosis and management, rather than by citation figures.
EDM Case Reports is published by Bioscientifica in collaboration with national and international societies in these disciplines. The publication is currently endorsed by twelve societies around the world. The publication is indexed in PubMed, PubMed Central, Science Citation Index, Sherpa/ROMEO, EMBASE and the Directory of Open Access Journals.
The journal is looking to appoint a co-Editor-in-Chief to manage the publication alongside Dr Sarantis Livadas, following the retirement of Dr Marie Freel from the role. The Editors-in-Chief are assisted by the board of expert Senior Editors.
Responsibilities
The co-Editor-in-Chief oversees the peer review process and journal development, including the following:
- Overseeing the peer review process and confirming a decision for submitted case reports to agreed timeframes, ensuring consistent standards of acceptance and rejection are maintained
- In collaboration with the Publisher, appointing new members of the Senior Editorial Board as and when required
- Acting in an ambassadorial role to represent the journal internationally, promoting the journal and soliciting submissions from their personal contacts and at conferences they attend
- Provide advice to the Publisher regarding marketing strategy, including proposing relevant meetings or conferences at which the journal might be promoted
- Chairing meetings with the Editorial Board as needed as well as attending meetings with the Publisher.
Extensive editorial and administrative support is provided by the Publisher and an honorarium is paid annually.
